Unless you live in Australia - pretty much impossible (they're not that active anyway). Do you want to be able to handle the lizard?
There are various suitable lizards, and I would recommend any small agamas, eg. orange spotteds, as they seem to fit the bill. _________________

They look like cool lizards!
What do they normally cost? _________________ Death is Certain, Life is not.

no quite alot of reptile shops will stock baby rankins, they are usually slightly more expensive than beardies, but are well worth the extra money, due to them being much easier to accommodate.
cost about £60 to £80, so not that bad.
most shops could get some in for you, i know of a few that stock them regularly, ameyzoo in hertfordshire and northampton reptile centre in northamptonshire _________________ Tom

You gotta love Rankins .. i have two pairs of Rankins and they all live in one viv, the males dont fight which is another good thing about the little fellas! ...
I agree they are great little lizards! _________________ Cheers

I have to say, Ive seen a few thorny devils for sale around the South...there were a few at Houten as well. I dont believe they make great captives though due to their diet, so I agree with others that they are a breed best steered clear of in most cases.
Dwarf sungazers (Cordylus tropidosternum, you may see them called different things) are small, easily cared for omnivorous species from Africa that usually go for around £20. If you set up a trio in a viv filled with rocks/crevices etc, they are apparently very hardy and will breed very readily. In spite of this they are usually WC however so wont usually make great handling pets. |
