Hi everybody ;o)
All about my applying for DWAA licence ...
The inspector sent me an information where's wrote that if I get ill or something like that I need to have another person who can take care over my snake until back to normal ...
'' 4.Keeping experience
In order to protect the welfare of the reptiles being kept, keepers must be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of husbandry and safe handling of the species they wish to keep. Visitors must NOT be allowed to handle the reptiles.
There should normally be a second named person nominated and included on the licence who is competent to care for the animals should the owner be absent or incapacitated. ''
I'm living in Bradford , West Yorkshire ...
Is there somebody who lives close to me and who shall help me ?
Thank you ... Artur. |

Sorry can't help as I'm based in East London/Essex
I notice that the requirement is NOT strictly for another DWA keeper but just someone competent with snakes, so that should make it easier _________________

My old da is on mine, just because he keeps snakes. _________________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy" - Tom Waits |

But in the case of incapacitation it wouldnt really be wise to have an untrained person looking after your DWA species really would it? I think its wise to find someone trained and experienced, its the responsible and wise thing to do and shows you have the right attitude towards venomous.
There must be someone in your area, could you ring the local authority and ask for advice, they should have a local person who is experienced that helps them with emergencies. Im afraid, I dont know anyone in your area. _________________ Cheers Angi

Shifty (my da) has kept venomous in the past, though does not anymore. So he can handle the snakes anyway. But zarozinia is right, its better to try and get someone who knows what they are at.
Nice site too zarozinia.

|
|
The short story what I've promised to you ];o)
The inspector came in with his secretary to have a look at my flat and unready place for snake in the future .
I've asked him isn't it stupid idea to keep venomous snake between the neighbours into block of flats ?
I've asked yet if he heared about any person who got a DWA licence and is living same as me in the block of flats ?
I had to ask cause sometime I'm thinking that it is abnormal thought ...
The separated house seems more safely I think ...
He said that the place which I prepared for snake looks OK ...
The door , lock .., enough space for snake .
But everything is into the Vet's hands ...
The inspector after visit sent to me a e-mail inform me that already he had spoken to Vet and he'll send him back his thought the next week ...
When I've asked the inspector about second person to put onto my licence he said that I can go to about two pet-shops which are cooperative with Animal Health Department around my city ...
So I think this problem is gone now .
Thanks to everybody , Artur. |
