I have recently been offered a chondro for £275 due to a shops closing down.

I am very interested but I would like to hear from some other keepers about possible ill effects? I.e reports of chondros dying a couple of days after purchase for no reason. I dont have a great deal of cash and this snake will be a real investment for me, so I would appreicate any input people have.

Thanks, James

Just make sure that the snake is 100% healthy and you are getting him from a reputable shop..have you kept gtp's before?.Just make sure you have the correct set up for them as they are not as forgiving as other pythons.Lots of members on here keep them so i am sure someone will be able to help you out with any other questions you have.

No I have never kept them before. I am understanding of there demanding requirements, especially with concern keeping there temprature correct and with misting. I am getting it from a reputable reptile shop in Orpington, Kent.

I understand that its an Aru Chondro, with some nice blue in it. It is an adult so I am hoping that will take away some of the possibility of sudden death. Any input would be appreciated.

In some cases moving an established adult can be worse than moving a juvenile..

right ok, ill have to be very careful if I purchase it then.

I have wanted a chondro for quite some time, and still do. Some have suggested id be better off opting for an emerald tree boa. Personally, Id rather have the chondro. But I am beginning to see there point.

No offence but for an adult seems very cheap!..I would certainly want to see it feed and thouroughly go over it.I would save up an extra £50-100 and get a decent cb baby..

The reason for its price is for 2 reasons, firstly closure of the shop, and secondly he owner is good friends with a good friend of mine. I do agree with the price. It is cheap, which does worry me. Ill pop up at the weekend and take a good look at it before buying it. I dont want to part with money for a 'risky' snake.
