OK so I'm going to possibly embarrass myself here but here goes. . . .

being new to forums and what have you, it's been a learning curve, an enjoyable one i hasten to add

my question is:
I've seen nearly everyone that lists what they have, precede what they name with numbers?! such as "I have 1.2 hoggies" and even "I have 1.2.1 amel corn" and so on. so assuming this is relating to the sex of the animals(?!) in what order are they referring and what does the third number represent?
