I think what confuses lots of people is that they consider the names currently given to snakes as gospel,

Most of the work has described snakes using phylogeny,

Very little work has been undertaken on snake genetics, and allot of the work that is out there is flawed.

What I'm trying to explain is that although currently they may be in a different genus, this has little to no relation to its genetics. So many species could be compatible,at the moment we just don't know.

Look at Karls breeding of the saharan sand boa, would these be considered python or boa? or an integrade?

Very interesting, not everybody will agree with hybrids, but thats life !
