Plated lizards are a dream to keep. i have two, they eat pretty much anything, veg, fruit, insects, cat food and love snails. I breed my own GALS just for my plateds and my skink.
They tame very well even from wild caught, but watch for mites, I had a nightmare with mine. Checked them before buying but a week later had an infestation and it took months to get rid of the little b*****s.
I keep mine with 8%uv although this is debated and temps from 75- 105 basking site. They do however need a few hiding spots, i personally use old drain pipes, they seem to appreciate these.
Plateds can be a very rewarding , if not very attractive species to keep if basic husbandry is followed.
Foods to consider are Pinkies, all safe greens and fruit. Crickets, locusts, morios, mealies and snails. Variety is important to these lizards.
Substrate can be any reptile safe medium although thet do like burrow now and again so cocoa fibre, aspen or beech chips or even a mix of all can be used.
Feel free to pm me should you wish any more info _________________ 2.2 LEO GEX
