Well as it's getting warmer now and the moths seem to be starting to come out I was wondering if I could catch them and give them to my crestie and chameleon? I have given my crestie a moth that was flying around my room but just because the crestie was trying to catch it even though it was on the outside of his tank

Anyway there is a light fitting on the outside of our house and I thought I could maybe turn that into a moth catcher, any ideas? I was thinking if I got a funnel or something hanging under the bulb then the moths would fly into the light and then fall down the funnel and into some sort of collecting tub. I also am aware of risks of not knowing what the moths have eaten but we live near a valley and it's pretty pesticide free. And obviously if I were to catch a strange looking moth I would release it, I'll just feed off the normal looking ones Very Happy

i used to leave my light on in my bedroom and leave the window open, then when they fly in,after they have finished flying round the light bulb and they went on the wall i used to cup my hands over them and then put them in my mantis tank.its easy to do but youve gotta be quick lol

you can get moth traps they are like a bucket with a sloping roof on they allow the moth to fly in but not fly out, i will see if i can get a pic for you. if you search moth lure or moth trap im sure you can find an example.
