long story short, after a trip to the vets my oldest female layed a load of eggs which the vet told me were not there! anyway i never got them in time and they all spoiled, except this one (i think) this is my first time I'm an egg virgin! anyway, she held on to this one for some reason and i witnessed her lay it, let me know what you think of the pics i post, does it look healthy? is it fertile? will it make it? I'm not holding out much hope but hey,, i cant just throw it out can i? the egg is now 3 days old, the father of these eggs died a week after the vet and after talking to many people about it, it sounds like he was overdosed with antibiotics which were given as a precaution! so fingers crossed for his last survivor |

It looks a little concave in the secound picture, but give it a few more days and after about a week you'll be able to candle it. I also have my first batch of eggs and have been told how to do this by other forum members.
If after this you seen red veins running through the egg its fertile!
All the best with it I hope it is fertile _________________ Beardies are the way!

Yep, I just used a low powered torch, I did mine yesterday and its just amazing to see the networks of blood vessels in there! Don't be afraid to ask no matter what the question, its the way we learn. I only learnt about candling a few days ago and now I get to pass on the info to you! Thats why this is a great forum, because there is always someone willing to help and take time to explain this (without taking the mick).
Yer the name Kidd isn't to common here either!
Goodluck with your egg! _________________ Beardies are the way!

Did you keep a lid on the egg container?
I incubate my water dragon eggs at about 78F. I have had close to 100% hatch rate and a good survival rate.
Egg laying season isn't over yet so hopefully you will get more. |
