Infact I have decided to take them out of my rodent room and bring them into the house as 'proper' pets.
Now whether they stay there once they reach 2ft and 3 kilos is another matter |
Do they really grow to two foot?
Not stirring it but I think Stuart was being funny when he said are they friendly with anyone or just you! _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Tried them on Giant Mealworms and adult locust, they love them! My Biggsy just ate 15 and it didn't even fill half his pouch (they store food in their mouths like Hamsters ).
They can bite the heads clean off adult locust _________________

How good is that! I like animals with unusal feautres, they sound like the dogs gonads to me. Do you think they could take on one of my millipedes?
Would probably just crunch it's head right off! _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

I should imagine they would love those, 'millipedes - crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside' _________________

Scott
I'm jealous; I really like these things. Have you seen an adult, they're f****** massive! Much bigger than a cat; more like a small wallaby.
I spent ages talking to a guy selling them at a show a few years back. I was put off by their housing requirements. According to him, they are arboreal, can chew through anything that ain't metal, and very intelligent, i.e. can open most cage doors!!!!!
He kept them in 2m high wire cages, made with heavy gauge metal, with a large standing tree trunk inside for climbing. He said that this had to be replaced quite often as they destroyed it. Also, he had to use a padlock on the cage door, and said that the rats would watch him lock it, and then try to pick the lock after
This was quite a few captive generations ago mind....
