Sandfish live in sand that is their natural environment, they have scales that cover their ears to prevent sand ingress, a countersunk jaw to help move through sand, if they do ingest any sand they are built to deal with it. When they take insects they take them on the surface of the sand and shake them, this is either to kill them or get rid of any sand or even both.
They have evolved and adapted to living mainly within the actual sand, quite clever really. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Hi all, just a quick update...
What I'm planning (Hoping, normally my plans tend not to go to plan! ) is to get a 45x45x60 Exo-Terra for my Crested Geckos with left over holiday money...Then what I'm hoping to do is get something to put in the cage I currently have my Crested Geckos in (80x40x36 cm).
Here are my preferences (They have changed a bit).
1: They can be kept on sand- I am making a fake background and it is sandy, so would prefer that so it would look better, though this is only for the aesthetical side, so not vital.
2: SandFish have been suggested, which I would like, however, my mum wouldn't want any skink type things as they are to 'Snake-Like'. Though I will still try to persuade.
3: Not arboreal, with the background being sand it would be hard to clean should I have lizards climbing and crapping on.
4: Preferably (Not vital) I would like the lizard not to be nocturnal so I would see it more (Though saying that, I'm out the house most the time in the day!)
5: The obvious choice would be Leopard Geckos, but I'm not so keen on keeping them, don't know why, but just not
6: Something not too expensive, I would like to get a pair, but if I couldn't afford them at once I could get one then the 2nd another time.
7: Would like to be able to handle it.
8: I can offer UV (I can't take it out, it's a former aquarium), so anything that needs UV is fine in there, anything that doesn't need it but isn't harmed by it is fine, but anything that is harmed by it isn't
They are all I can think of for the moment, and if I can think of any more I will post. It's not definite I will be getting more, but I have been told in the past I could maybe get some after we've been on holiday (Which we have been), and it's always nice to have reptile keepers views to show my parents when they start asking questions!
Thanks,
