just out of interest how big (STV) do they get as adults????? |
Hi Chris, as adults they are not very big at all, when you see them for the first time it is surprising at actually how small thye are. Most folks perceptions of iggies are as big heavy set creatures, but these are very different. When I saw my first Fiji I was quite taken aback by its small size. SVL on an adult is approx: 6-8 inches (gauged by eye), then a very long and thin tail! _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Thanks, yep the wee fella is doing well, they are a swine to get feeding at first though!
The juvy male is a pig He loves his fruit and florrets salad and will also take a wide range of other bits to as will his girlfriend, they will scarf down most suitably sized insects, but I go easy on the insects as want to avoid protein overload. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. As Stu said they are awesome lizards.
The pic of the baby doesn't even show all of his tail. I think his tail has grown more quickly than the rest of him They can be very shy and timid creatures, but I have not heard of any tail whipping. If they did even as adults, it would only tickle they really are very small lizards.
I have found that housing my two juvy Fiji's in a room where I spend a lot of time has helped calm them right down, just by them being able to see me on a regular basis has got them used to me, to the point where they will now hand feed. The baby male I have handled quite a bit, he can still be skitty at times but most of the time is relatively calm. They really are beautiful animals to keep. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
