Hi Dan,
I will post some updated pics of the baby axanthics soon. Briefly though, the story on the axanthics is I hatched 3 axanthics from 11 eggs in 2002 from normal looking parents. This year I bred a male axanthic to 2 of his normal looking sisters and got lucky with axanthics hatching in both clutches.
Cheers,
Paul.

Thanks Paul, but now i have more questions (nosey bugger i know) Very Happy

Have the parents produced babies since and have any been axanthics?
With this years breedings, were you able to determine anything about the genetics from the eggs/hatchlings produced? Ie is it a simple recessive gene, etc etc.

I know you're a more private person than most that use the forums so if you don't want to answer then i'll just be happy with some more photo's Laughing

Hi Dan,
The original adults bred again in 2003 and 2004 but unfortunately most of the eggs were slugs and I didn't hatch any, the female has since died.
Given that there were 3 axanthics from 11 eggs from normal appearing adults in the 2002, I would assume it is simple recessive.

Breeding the axanthic male to 2 of his normal appearing sisters and hatching axanthics from both clutches could point to co-dominance but my feeling is that it is simple recessive and the females are indeed hets.

I will try to breed an axanthic male to a hypo female this season, that should answer some questions I guess.

Cheers,
Paul.
