took him to the vet at first he said he was constipated and them gave him an inflammatory and then later on had a look and said somthing was wrong with his penis and has to remove a big white Gore stone and said he needed some stick es and to me knocked out will they do this and he said it will cost around £250 and my mum can't afford that so we are giving him to the chenial rehomeing place and they will do his operations there and we will only have to pa the inflammatory and the cost to take him there so he Will be well cared for.
they won't re home him until a few years because the Gore stone thing might keep coming back and Will cost loads
they will also do more tests
so he should live a happy life
and thank god it wasn't my fault and the vet said i did very well to keep him alive this long (up all night spraying him lol) _________________

I've never dealt with a turtle prolapse before, but when chameleons get a prolapse, you have to keep the prolapse moist constantly or it will dry out and become necrotic (dead). I usually put the animal in a plastic pet pal (don't know what you call them in Britain) that I have filled with water so that it covers the prolapsed area (but not deep enough to drown the turtle, of course).
For chameleons and other lizards, the vet usually tries to decrease the size/swelling of the prolapsed area with a sugar/water solution so that it can be put back where it belongs...and a purse-string suture is put in place to keep it there for a while so it can heal. The prolapsed tissues are delicate and can be easily torn...so its important to have a vet do it.
Once everything is back inside, the reptile is usually given a course of antibiotics. There have been incidences where the reptile will develop a fungal infection after a couple of weeks....so if your turtle improves and then starts to go down hill again, this is something to keep in mind.
Here are some sites with information/picutres...

Hopefully these are worse than yours....

Hope all goes well! |
