Superb result, well done, great looking Fijis to! Did you find when they bred that you had any issues with the female not letting the male mate with her? _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

On occasion i did see she was resisting his advances, but i guess he must be a little convincing as this is her fourth clutch she is about to lay.
Both have been none stop since hitting maturity (approx 20 months).
Number 11 Hatching this morning,
Oh happy days

Congrats Jerry, happy for your great success!
Just a question: is it true that the hatchlings are difficult to start feeding on their own?
Thanks

Yes and no, they don't seem overly interested in live food at first and tend to eat the greens that we offer before live foods.
Have not had any major issues, main thing is to remember to leave them alone for the first few weeks, as with all reptile species the first few weeks & months are very daunting.
Checking them every day and offering food disturbs them and this normally leads to most non feeding issues.
We also try not to handle the animal in the first few months if possible, this allows them to adjust to the new surroundings and become more confident with us.
Our advice with any new hatchling is to provide the correct environment it needs then leave it until it gets into a good feeding regime.

Very true. That`s a bit of a Golden rule that one can apply to all reptiles. Young snakes especially. Worrying is dangerous. If you worry, you tend to keep checking and bothering the animals which disturbs and stresses them at a very crucial point in their existance. It becomes a vicious circle which can make the situation far worse.
Far better as Jerry said, having provided the neccesary conditions and environment for the animals to leave them too it as much as possible. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD
