very nice stuart i love my oddball fish and used to have a silver arowana he was 4" when i brought him home and he grew VERY quickly!

unfortunately like you said they spook very easily and when his aquarium sprung a leak the whole experience must have been too much for him and sadly he died, at a size of approx 20" i was absolutely gutted to say the least.

has yours ended up on the floor yet? trust me you will get sick of them diving out the tank whenever you are doing any work in it!

once again great pics thanks for sharing

Confused sorry to hear you lost yours Keiron..especially at that size he must have been a very impressive fish. Not had mine jump out yet but guess its early days. Laughing I just move very slowly when doing anything to the tank.Done a water change earlier and he darted about a bit but no high jumps!..He is feeding well on crickets, shrimp etc and doesn't seem to fazed by his new home. Will be on the look out for a new tank though as my 5ft won't last long with the rate they grow!..want to add some rays too. Cool

yeah he was great wish i had some pics still!

good tankmates for arowanas are few and far between but rays should be ok, never kept them myself but i do like the look of the 'motoro' rays, a garden centre near me had these in together without a problem.

i would love another arowana they are excellent to watch but i simply haven't got room at the moment but i have promised myself an asian arowana in the future!

yep motoro are nice!..Ideal as aro's spend most their time at the surface and rays at the bottom..tiger shovelnose cats are also very nice and can mix well with them from what I hear..

Just thought I'd share this.He was a little nervous for the first day but has got used to us walking past the tank etc..however today every time my girlfriend walked past the tank he freaked out jumping and darting all over the tank! If I walked past no reaction..tried to figure out why he was doing this as he wasn't yesterday.Today my girlfriend was wearing a bright red top and I wondered if this could have been it?? Part joking I said to her to change her T shirt which she did to a dark one and try walking past the tank..didn't jump or hardly move at all..weird or coincidence?..I thought coincidence until my son came home from football training wearing a bright red England shirt only to find every he time he went near the tank the fish flipped out..again got him to put different shirt on and the aro is fine!!!Anyone else experienced anything similar to this?
Shocked Shocked
