The colour that she is displaying indicates her readiness to mate. They are not always that pink. His colours indicate,.......that he`s enjoying himself! Laughing

They are the same species of Chameleon. Panthers from Madagascar, you don`t really get "Breeds" of Chameleon, not yet anyway. Wink

No breeds of Chameleon. Embarassed Well, I guess I learned something today.

As for Franz F., he has finally lost his innocent.

Being as pink as she is, she is very much into him. So Rick, please, leave them alone and get a life.

Thanks Peter for the info.

I know nothing about Chameleon so this question may sound foolish but does the female always have duller colors than the male?
Or is it just a diff. breed?

Good question Chantal; in 99% of chameleon species the male tends to be more colorful than the female. In this case, Panther Chameleons (Furcifer Pardalis) , from Madagascar (various locales named after the parts of Madagascar they come from e.g. Nosy B, Ambanja etc) the females are cream, browns, white combinations generically speaking. When ready to mate they will become more colorful, in the case of Edina she went mostly bright pink. The male Panthers from Madagascar range from blues, reds, orange, greens and various combinations of these colours.

This link gives a map of Madagascar and locales that the Panthers come from plus more details on colours.

The Yemen chameleons; females tend to be various shades of green I still consider them to be attractive the males again are more colorful.

Perhaps an exception to male colour supremacy may be the Mellor (Mellers) chameleon where the female is various shades of yellows, greens and lime. http://www.melleridiscovery.com/

Hope this info is interesting and the links are of some use. Should keep you busy having a look at it all!
