I'm certainly going to try my best to do so, Ive got a massive 1700 page book on Madagascars natural history which Im in the process of reading, Madagascar has quite varied climatic conditions and I will be looking into it in much more depth for this species. I do let temps drop right down at night.
The islands climate is strongly influenced by dry winds in their winter, which is May to September and then by monsoon driven tropical storms in their summer ( December to March).
This species are found on the eastern side of the island and the small islands off the east coast. This area has the worlds highest level of precipitation apparently (4,100 mm), and is constantly very humid, so I need to keep humidityt levels high all year around.
I'm also contemplating seperating them for a while to see if that will prompt mating behaviour. |
Sounds like you've got it all under control! Will be interesting to see what triggers mating. Do you know if they're very vocal? _________________

Stunning gecko Angi - I am jealous lol. I still have one leaftail my old male Henkeli - I've now had him nearly 6 years and he is still going stong! Considering he was an adult when I got him and the Sacha Svetak book says they live approximately 7 years I think I'm doing rather wll with him lol!
Good luck with breeding them, I hope you have lots of little leafys running around soon! _________________ 20 years experience in reptile keeping.

I know Angi, only one is left. I sold my Ebans to you and my female Pietchmanni went to a guy in Surrey, and that was the last of my uro's.
I never kept Fimb's I would have if I could have found any lol.
I'm queen of cresties instead now lol, I have loads of morphs and I am concentrating on breeding pinstripes, extreme harlequins and creamsicles. _________________ 20 years experience in reptile keeping.

I dont think many people keep them in this country Johonny. I know Nerys has a pair and another friend of mine used to have some - not sure if she still does though. |
Yea... i heard they were quite rare... And hard to keep!
How much does the husbandry differ from that of other gecko's/chams etc.? Not looking to get one.. just curious...
They are soo cool... Lovely pics, and the best of luck to you on the breeding side...
