Are you sure he's a Black and White though? Having seen youngsters of both, I would say he is a Red...

VERY NICE! he looks like a dark red and white tegu, or . . . . a morph, doesnt look much like a B&W, either way, still very nice!!!
this is what a B&W year old males colourings are like.

im pretty sure thats a red tegu.if it is it will require different conditions to a blk and white. the basking temp can be a little higher than a blk and white, also it requires a more humid environment and a lot more fruit in its diet compared to a blk and white as if that is not done then they can develop skin problems!hope that helps, not sure if i can mention other sites but as its in the interest of an animals welfare i will(sorry!!) the tegu.com is great for a tegu keeper.put in a search about red tegus and you'll be fine if you follow the advice on there. by the way, if its a male it can get to about 4ft in length and will require at least an 8x3x3 viv (cant remember who asked how big it will get!!!sorry!!) anyway enjoy, they are fantastic lizards,oh and heres a tip-no matter what you feed it , do it in a bowl as they can be very food aggressive so by feeding from a bowl they learn to associate the bowl with food and not you!!! |

i would def say tha tis a red tegu though it is alot darker then my red female...and that pic above it my black and white male
i will post up a picture of my pair stting next to each other...and yes they do need slghtly different conditions but you can still keep the together aslong as they still get the right diet and you find a happy balance between them...mind are both very healthy i would say and get on very well together, the male seem to follow the female around alo of the time though lol |
