i didint think there was any such thing as a new guinea it looks like a reduced pattern irian jaya to me there is however a paticular bloodline that
makes this pattern and the parents were normal irian jaya
hell i might be wrong though |

Andy, you have tried to baffle everyone with science mate . But that really does not look like a NG Carpet (colour completely different to me). Aussie Variagata are not black and grey either.
I do know my Carpets quite well and am not convinced this is a NG.
if it is a hybrid whats to say that its not a Jungle/irian and then could possible have the same scale count as a variagata? Also does the breeder of these live in UK?
After all said and done this is a lovely looking snake and wish you all the best with it no matter what it is.
Here is a pic of my female NG |

Got mixed up was in a hurry lol, Karl has got a new guinea female, although he is still adamant its a jungle LOL!!! Told him a few times its a New Guinea, its a stunner too, pity he is going to hybridise it, but I have a plan to try and acquire it LOL.
Been busy as hell getting everything on the go for when work comes available stateside, got sick of LF for many reasons and have so many projects on the go at the moment for after next summer in the USA I have little time.
Take it easy.

Also I dont go on colour, as I say scale count works out for variegata, all variegatas I have seen a very dismal and drab in colour, granted I have not seen them in the wild, and all the ones I have seen that have apparently been of australian in origin have been dismal and drab in colouration.
I can see why people think it is a hybrid, especially with the large plate between the eyes which does indicate jungle, but this scale is also found fused in other species too.
As for Karls to me it looks like new guinea, but I dont have the scale counts!! Leave that for the big guy to do himself.
It is a stunning snake regardless, but all the so called New Guineas I have come across are cream in colour, however origins in captivity are doubtful as you need to take the breeders word for it, even worse when carpet hybrids go across 3 or so species and then back to an original.
I am still clamining it a new guinea lol. . . as the colour mutation is so variant on the buggers. . . . .
Regardless its variegata, Karl let ross have your female lol. . .
Signing out. |
