Definitely 'compost flies'! I was plagued with them until I bought some of the new type fly strips from the local garden centre. The fly strips are white when new but are black with these tiny flies after just one week. NB. a tip for those using these fly strips - keep your thumb pressed firmly on the drawing pin while you are pulling the cardboard base. The paper spirals out and you need to unwind it as it comes out of the base. Don't just leave go of the cardboard base when all the sticky paper has come out - it will twang back up into a sticky mess, hook a small weight to the base and let it hang for a few hours to stretch out the paper. _________________ If you don't know, ask! |
