|
|
Probably the wrong forum, but here goes:
Hypothetically speaking: If I were to breed my own feeder mice from a good stock, what would be the best/ most secure container to keep them in?
At the moment, I have an enclosure that is being home-made similiar in style to this one.....http://www.cagesbydesign.com/cages/specials_reptile.asp (R1 on this website.) The only differences being, my own design in regards to furnishings and the enclosure itself will be 100% glass with the surrounding wood as extra support/decoration features. Underneath the enclosure itself, will be a larger storage cabinet area with 3 pairs of doors, with at least one to two shelves (depending on the size of the mice container that I'll need to use). On both sides of the cabinet itself there will be ventilation slits (simliar to those used by elctrical heating ducts) so there won't be a risk of suffocating the mice once they are inside.
So what would be the best container(s) to use without running the risk of having mice running around inside the cabinet? _________________ Sometimes I feel like the RED SHIRT in the Star Trek episode of life. |

If you are only have one or two cages, I would go to your local pet shop /petco and just buy a standard type rodent cage, these are obviously designed to stop escapes. It's only if you want dozens of mouse cages that you need to look for special cages (these special cages are designed to save time on maintanance). _________________

My camera's charging at the moment but, remind me tomorrow and I'll take some photo's of them for you so that you can see. Only had one escape situation and that was the mutli-mammates but I've now taped mesh to the outside of their cage so they can't get through any more
No problem at all for normal mice. _________________ Regards, Tanya

As you can see, the cages give the mice ample amounts of space. Here is one of them deciding that the feeding tray is the best place for a kip lol
Their dimensions are 46x31x71.5cm _________________ Regards, Tanya

I think that those will be perfect! Thanks! ...urm, one question and it's gonna sound dumb. But which pet store did you purchase them from? I went to the local PetSmart and Pet Co looking for a good cage for future feeders/breeders and didn't see anything like those.... _________________ Sometimes I feel like the RED SHIRT in the Star Trek episode of life. |
