Just reccently, I saw a film taken from a soldier mate of mine, who was stationed in Arac, it featured these Camel Spiders out in the evening, sculking about in the back of the shot!! They have tremendous aggression, and a ferrocious temper, a particularly HUGE one, chased a squady down a lane!! Never seen anything run that fast man!!! Shocked
One had caught a fair sized green lizard, and had started its soup lunch, on their windowsill of barrocks!
Please tell me no-ones brave/daft enough to keep these?!
Awesome, but ugly creatures!
Opinions please!

Not technically a spider (Solfugids), but interesting little things, they are kept in captivity now and again Laughing

It's not a spider.

It's a solifuge(Solfigudae) and they are usually around.

Most places get them in summer though so you will have a harder time getting them now, but might be worth e-mailing Lee @ TheSpiderShop.co.uk as he sometimes has them in.

You need to keep em hot and they don't have a great lifespan normally, longest I have had one last is a year and a half, there is a lot of debate about it being down to inadequate burrows with a range in humidity and temps etc as they would have in the wild.
