hi all,
i am looking for info on the captive care of the rough scaled plated lizard (Gerrhosaurus major) as i saw some wild ones in kenya and really liked them, and after coming back i have found some for sale.
so any info would be greatly appreciated

It seems that a number of users feel that you sometimes post sarcastic comments that are of no relevance or benefit to the thread Matt. This is a forum after all where asking questions is a large part of it,google isn't the answer to everything mate. Please if you have nothing constructive to add to a thread then maybe it will be better to refrain from posting in it.  _________________

I have kept these for a few years. I keep mine in a 4x2x2 viv on playpit sand. They love to bask and need a temp around 26-32c. Feed them black crickets,waxworms,rat pups fruit and veg. |

I made a hide by sticking clumps of polystyrine together then painting it with a brown paint mixed with sand. Its a bit of a blue peter job but they use it to bask on and hide in. Mine are not as tame as books would suggest, not biters but they make it clear they prefere to stay in the viv! |
