how often do you feed your baby corn snakes? mine seems to be eating all the time, like nearly every day or every other day, sometimes 2 pinkies at a time.
he is growing nicely and quite quickly i have only had him for 2weeks.
any advice would be great
thanks. |

i bought the snake from the shop and was told that he was 3 months old, he is 15in long and i have been feeding him near enough every day which i will no longer do....after reading what you have said.
however what will happen to him if he is fed everyday?
so i take it i have to feed him every 3 to 4 days and this is safe?
thanks
p.s
i dont have a pic, sorry |

If your feeding everyday and you never have any regurgitated pinks then you probably won't have any problems. I personally would try to switch over onto something a little bigger and then just feed every 4-5 days.
Colubrid snakes up to a year old will normally be fine on a heavey feeding schedule but once they get past a year (or 3ft) you really need to be carefull not to allow the snake to get fat, normally indicated by little fatty lumps towards the rear of the body and / or an abnormal body shape. _________________

The best way to judge the size of prey is to look at the girth of the snake around the middle. Then feed a mouse of a similar size to that.
Try and feed every 5 days until he reaches adult size, then every 7-10 days.
For now try feeding 1 fuzzy every 5 days for 4 feeds. If there are no problems then feed it 2 fuzzy every 5 days for 6 feeds. Then if there are no problems then try it on a weaner mouse everey 5 days.
Your best bet is to buy the book "The Corn Snake manual" by dave and tracy barker. In my opinion this is the best book on corn snakes. |

Do you mean the Corn Snake Manual by Bill & Kathy Love? The Barkers did the Ball Python manual I believe but I've never heard tell of them doing a corn snake one.................... could there possibly be a corn snake book I've not yet found? Oooh, excitement mounts at the prospect! _________________ Regards, Tanya

You'd be better off buying the comprehensive owner's guide by Bill & Kathy Love. It's their latest release and upgrade from the corn snake manual and is, by far, the best corn snake book I've found for today's corn snake enthusiast. It was only published this year. _________________ Regards, Tanya
