Without knowing the latin name i can't be 100% sure. Usually though, when talking about armadillo and sungazers, breeders / dealers are talking about the same thing. I believe the species you refer to is part of the Cordylus genus, part of the Girdled Lizard family.
Technically, to my knowledge, only the Cordylus giganteus should be called a Sungazer.
I have several years experience with this species, let me know if you require any further information. _________________ Fraser Gilchrist

hmmm, saw an ad in the shop window for a pair of sungazers the other day, went last night for a look, they were in a glass tank, very humid, it was about 1ft long there was an infestation of tiny flies and the piece of wood that was in it was living with blue mold and fur, the tank had no uv bulb and for heat the guy was using a 15w pigmy bulb, he also had a golden gecko in a glass tank that i would keep my bugs in,, was not even a foot long, this little guy had wood chipping for substrate a tiny plant and also had a 15w pigmy bulb for heat, he told me that when the gecko bites he will not let go and the only way to get him of is to hurt him! he then went on to explain a way this could be done,, he said light a match and blow it out then touch his nose with the hot tip and he will let go, i couldn't leave any of them there so i am now 3 lizards up |

Aww nooo.. Poor things.
I hope he was selling cheap- it does sound like they needed saving but giving him lots of money just encourages him if you know what I mean.... its a bit of a catch-22 really. Very sad.. _________________
