Well inevitably our favourite pets aren't always with us. So I was just wondering if anyone actually preserves their animals, either dry, or the "in the bottle" form. I've done it with fish, but not with a reptile (so far I haven't needed too) and i saw a jar preserved specimen of vipera berus earlier, so just wondered if anyone has done it and how.
Also how many people still have their reptiles in the freezer ?
Sorry it's such a morbid thread lol. |

Lol, this is a morbid thread!! The whole preservation thing creeps me out to be honest lol.. I used to hate the jarred frogs at school!
Thankfully my reptiles are still with me and fingers crossed it will stay that way for some time! I think they will probably be cremated when the time comes...
And erm.. My fish get flushed, my two dogs were cremated and my hamsters were buried! Nothing preserved... 'cept for the stupid stuffed mink in the living room which doesnt count!!
Why are the reptiles in the freezer?! _________________

I wouldn't do it personally it creeps me out when they are preserved, I know quite a lot of people do though, but to me once there gone then they are gone, I dint want to see my pet that once was crawling around stiff and dead every day _________________ Theres nothing right on the left side of my head and nothing left on the right |

You never know!! It could have been the title of a delightful poem about reptile heaven!
See, doesn't need to be all doom and gloom! _________________

Must admit I always had the intention of preserving some of mine (either in a jar or stuffed or even just the skin, all depends on what it was), so far I haven't got round to doing any. _________________

I bury mine in the garden.
Years ago I had a green anole which I left with a good friend when I went on holiday. When I got back, he apologised, said my anole had died while I was gone, and handed me the preserved specimen in a jar! I think it's still kicking about my dad's house somewhere! _________________
