Hi
We rescued twiggs from terrible conditions around 2 months ago.
He was covered in about 3 layers of shed, had retained spectacles, blocked heat pits, wasnt eating and had a jaw deformity due to muscle wastage due to being severly underweight and dehydrated.
We have been given him constant baths, lubricating him with KY Jelly and had to assist feed him initially.
He now looks like a completely different snake.
He has had his first "normal" shed with me (bitty but all off) he now strike feeds and his jaw is almost back to normal.
I couldnt resist posting a pic of him as he is now, so thought I would also post a pic of him about a week after we got him, to show the difference in him.
He looks better than he did on the first pic as he had just been lubed up with the KY.
Anyway, here are the pics. |

Thanks both.
KY Jelly is great for moisturising unshed skin and helping to remove it.
It is soo gentle that it can be applied to the eyes even!
Well, think of where it is designed to go
Its really embarrasing going into the chemist and asking for KY for my snake!!

I'd have never thought of the KY as a moisturiser but it obviously seems to have done the trick nicely. Especially as i can't see an arborial snake being impressed a submersion bath to help get it all off.
I know what you mean about the KY and shop assistants, i have had to buy a tube of it and a box if tissues before - she lady behind the till couldnt stop giggling _________________ TFA

He did actually have a few baths - he was so lethargic that he did't actually object too much at the time. Saying that, he still doesn't mind now - he is surprisingly friendly for an arboreal _________________
