It could be an Axanthic but as Axanthic means ''lacking yellow'' and the parents are black and grey it seems strange? The axanthic gene is recessive so if the parents were possible gene carriers 1 in 4 offspring should turn out Axanthic - what are the clutch sizes for this species?
Alternatively you may have had a spontaneous mutation - this is completely random and very uncommon although I have had it happen in the past.
I guess only time will tell - raise the baby and breed back to the parents and see if you get more black and white babies.
Good luck with this project. |
The clutch sizes is about 10-15. The gray couple has been bred 3-4 seasons, and this Black/white specimen is the only one, all other offspring is "normal" i.e gray.
I am hoping that it is a spontaneous mutation..
The baby is bred one time, witha a female that is from a differens bloodline and many of the males from that clutch looks like the black/white male.
I am going to try to mate him to his mother this year, just to see what will happend.. _________________ *** Miqe ***
