Ever been tempted to house the copperhead with leaf litter as a substrate?
(pain to find him in it, yes, but I think it would be worth it!)

Thanks for the kind words guys
SiUK- All of my snakes have come from DPS Exotics in my home town of warminster.
Jakeus- The council authourity in charge of DWA animals want to see your charges kept in secure and adequate enclosures. The plastic tubs that my juvenile vipers are kept in are completely escape proof and are large enough to house them in humanely with enough room for them to feel secure but not too large that they take up lots of space. The tubs themselves are then locked away in a large vivarium where several juveniles can be kept together and monitered. Hope that answers your question
Mememe- yes your right mate Copperheads look great kept on leaf litter. However as mine is still a juvenile and is being kept in a small tub I shall wait until she is large enough for her own viv and then I shall design a cracking natural set-up for her with a woodland theme in mind.
Its something I've been thinking about since I've had her ( 1 year ) and I'm actually looking forwrd to it.
I shall have to devize some way of sterilizing the dead leaves first, not wanting to introduce any nasty bugs into the viv. Maybe freezing them first or roasting them in a hot oven for a few seconds....who knows.
Any thoughts anyone? _________________ You can't trust the snake......but you can always trust the snake to be a snake. |
