This may seem like a bit of an odd thing to post about but, my mum and dad (well my mum mainly) are worried about when i go to university (2 1/2 years away) because they don't want me to leave my reptiles at home, but they do not think i will be allowed them at where i stay. does anyone know about university housing rules for pets? i i cannot take them with me my mum says i cannot get any more reptiles until after uni (that's 4 years!!) _________________ Tom

I wasnt allowed pets in halls in first year..but now i am in second year (renting from a mate who likes animals and living with maily vet students) I can have pets! My first salamander came within a few weeks of leaving halls _________________ Interested in amphibians? Join us at Myamphibia for friendly banter, amazing pictures and great information. 2 1/2yrs away is quite some time off, but When I was in halls (long time ago now) I took Frank (BD) with me. I simply flat packed my Viv (at the time 4x2x2) and took it in as "furniture" and had a large cloth to cover it when inspections happened. A couple of friends, because of me got snakes too. No one got caught. |

if you go into halls you most definately won't be allowed pets. If you are house renting (or i guess buy a house) then its up to the landlord whether you are allowed pets. Also a lot of people when they say "not pets" usually means no dogs or rabbits (or other larger furry critters like cats and whatnot). |

I wasn't allowed any pets in Uni halls but I had a really good landlord who let us keep any pets we wanted. _________________

yea i was the same, wasnt allowed them but as long as ur discrete and dont have too much its easliy disguisable when inspection times come along. And be careful when crix are involoved no one will thank you if they wake up to find a cricket has found their way to their room! And if you happen to live with some a-hole (it does happen) they mite just report you I think you have to have a back up plan for if you get told to remove them. _________________
