I think that "Spot the frog" is a great idea for a fun type competition. Very Happy

"Member of the month" however I have to say I also don`t like the idea of at all.

I fear that as Rick has already said, that it would bring out the worst in people and create just the sort of conceitedness amongst certain areas of the membership which sets this forum apart on the whole from others by it`s very abscence.

Also the point that Dan made, about the current lack of youthful (not that there is anything wrong with being young, it just tends to go like this) and all to ready to comment members that will advise on subjects that they really had best not do based on hearsay and flicking through text books and other sites rather than drawing on experience, is another very relevant one . This is something else that we don`t suffer from on this forum as yet, and it would definately surface if everybody was competing to appear the most knowledgeable or similar such jostling for a position of "elevation" or "respect". It makes me shudder actually thinking of the list of my least favourite qualities that it would bring out in people.

I would be a very great shame if this very unique and useful forum turned into just another version of another large herpetology forum that immediately springs to mind with all the bickering and back stabbing that goes on there. I am certain that it would rear it`s ugly head if "Member of the month" was put into place.

I mean no offence to either Lee (Beardy Barmy) or Steve (Lingy) of course, I just really do not like the idea and am stating my two pence worth. Wink

We could have a "Who has been the biggest member here this month" competition instead! Razz

That could be splendid sport! Laughing
