Rick, does your catus bloom every year????
You have a green thumb.
I love catuses and mine never blooms. They were bloomed when I first bought them but never since. Does it mean that I have some very unhappy catuses???
If you have any more pictures, let me see them. |

yeah they bloom every year regular as clockwork mainly in the springtime.
In winter time; keep cold and water once per month, sparingly. Increase watering and feeding as the weather warms up, then they should bloom.
They enjoy being pot bound, enjoy a free draining gritty compost, and hot dry arid conditions in the summer, always worth putting them outside for a few months at the hottest part of the year, do this gradually so the full sun exposure does not cause them to burn after being indoors. They enjoy fresh free circulating air.
I have a lot of tropical / exotic plants that I keep in my conservatory. Also have quite a large collection of various bromeliads. They don't flower till they are mature, when they do the parent plant usually dies and then continually shoots out pups that can be clean cut and planted up when they are established.
I plan to raise a few more to use in substrate based set ups, i.e. dart frogs, salamanders etc. Another interesting part of the herp hobby.
Will post some pics up at some point of the other exotic plants in the conservatory. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Wonderful collection of cacti you have Rick. The flowers are stunning. We have an easter flowering cactus which flowered in June last year. My grandad used to keep lots of cacti species but now only has one. His favourite Christmas flowering cactus. Every year from the end of September to the middle of December he covers the top of it in a black bag. It certainly does the job because he has stunning blooms from December right through until the end of April. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie

Thanks Jackie. I have Easter and Christmas flowering cacti but they never seem to do much and only flower on an irregular basis. I shall try the black bag, thanks for that. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Arum lilly, I have some of them in my front garden, they have been flowering with all the rain and the sun we have been having. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
