Only four were known to exist, all females. Two owned by a German breeder, one by myself and another by a UK keeper. The UK ones are now dead, not sure of the fate of the German ones. Never heard of any other scalaris retaining their juvenile patterns, I think its an unusual trait in this species. As these females were all old and their offspring have long since grown into adults, if it was an inheritable trait, there'd be more specimens exhibiting the ladder pattern into mature adulthood.
