good point on the frogs but then again this topic is in BOA /PYTHONS forum Laughing

True enough but the thread is about hybrids and citing the dire situation that amphibians are currently in is entirely relevant. Snakes could well be in a similar situation in the future. With the hotch potch of mixed up bacteria and pathogens in the world today it would be hard to predict the next group of animals which are likely to suffer a similar predicament to that of the frogs.

I am sure that everyone knows my stance on hybrids so I won`t repeat myself. I`ll just say that I read some time back of somebody`s plans to attempt to hybridize an egg laying snake species with a live bearing one.

I doubt that such a thing is possible, but why on earth even think about doing it in the first place other than to satisfy human curiosity?

Hybrids do of course occur infrequently in nature, especially between "close" species. I found an animal which would appear to be a hybrid between a smooth and a palmate newt very recently. It hardly compares with hybrids between species which would never meet other than with human intervention however.

Each to their own I suppose, but I do not like the idea of deliberate hybridisation and will always oppose it strongly.

Off the soap box now. Wink Smile

Shocked
What will you call them? Reticulated balls, ticballs, balltics? I have to admit I am curious as to what they'll look like.

not that keen on the idea of hybrids really, but they do intrigue me, and some of the results are stunning, such as scotts burmball. and that mating looks very interesting peter, please keep us updated.

i also like the chondro hybrids they are stunning

Iam not sure if i like the idea of hybrids but they do usually create some stunning snakes. I feel aslong as people are responsible with them and make sure people know exactly what they are then there shouldn't be to much of a problem. wouldn't it be a shame if in years to come everything just got mixed up and we end up with no pure bloodlines and just a mongrel type snake that nobody can actually distinguish what exactly it is.

out of curiosity with the ball/retic pairing is the ball the female?

i just found some pics of a cross between a woma and a IJ Carpet Python, just thught i would share as i had never seen this hybrid before:

also found some pics of a macklots python crossed with a jaguar carpet, and a coastal carpet crossd with a scrub. i can post pics of those if anyone wants to see them.

just thought some of these were interesting, i think that the woma python cross is horrible, womas are gorgeous in their own right, and rare and shouldnt be hybridised,
