Jack get yourself a small hook and just lightly touch them on the head or body when you open the viv..this will let them know its not food time and tbh if you handle regularly its unlikely they will think its food every time you open the door..Some of my snakes I hardly ever bother to handle and you can expect them to be a bit trigger happy when lid is taken off or door opened but even with these ones a few touches with the hook sorts it out. Fair point about substrate but I dont have that problem as they are all pretty much on paper..those that are on substrate I just place some kitchen towel down and place food item on top of that.. Cool

Your welcome mate..let me know how it goes..works well for me and the albino granite is a good example of it.those pics I put up yesterday are the first time he has been out and handled for months!.Don't get me wrong he is taken out and put on the floor when I clean him out but thats all. He is one of mine that does expect food when door is opened so if I am cleaning or changing water etc I always go in with hook and lightly touch and move him out the way or into a good position to pick him up..
