Hi everybody, does anyone know of a good herp vet in the London area? I am in Croydon but can travel to inner London if necessary. Its for my crestie s/he had MBD awhile ago but it kinda subsided and was getting better but a few days ago i noticed that this/her legs were doing the "popeye" thing and its jaw it getting quite squishy so thought better take it to the vet now... But i cant find any info on reliable reptile vets in the area, so please if any of you guys know of any please let me know asap. If i could have either websites and or names and numbers that will be great. I am really worried so need some info quickly.
Thanks for any help,

Since your lizard had problems with MBD once already and its coming back you should look at your husbandry....especially supplements, what you are feeding it and what you are feeding the insects that you feed to your lizard. Proper digestion is important too.
Calcium, phosphorous, D3 and vitamin A are the main players in bone health and need to be in balance in order for the lizard to have good strong bones.
Are you using anything to feed or dust your insects that contains preformed vitamin A?
I know that normally its said that crested geckos don't need a UVB light, but it might help in this situation...as long as your lizard has a place to go to get away from it. |

hi kinyonga,
As soon as s/he first got signs of MBD i re-evaluated what i was feeding it, the lighting/heating/humidity and supplements etc. I made some changes and thats when s/he got better but obviously it wasnt enough. S/he is on the roughly the same diet, in the same room, and live in the same conditions as my adult gargoyle and she is fine... Luckily a friend has some zolcal but im tacking him/her to the vet anyways just to be sure and to get a syringe etc. Just keeping fingers crossed now. _________________ some people are like slinkies.
