Hi, my florida king has had blue eyes for 3 days now, do you know how long it usually takes to shed. I've put a moss box in but don't think he's using it, will he shed ok without it? sorry for the questions, but this is the first shed he's had with us and never owned a reptile before, so got no reference point Smile

Hi,
the time a snake stays blue appears to depend on the species, but on average I would say between a week and 10 days. The eyes will stay blue for some of that time and then clear up again, and then a few days later the snake should shed. The moss box is probably providing extra humidity in the air so dont worry if he doesn't use it, but once he's used to it being there he should use it every so often, especially leading up to a shed. I kept Kingsnakes for about 12 years and didn't provide a moss box 'cos I never had a problem shed, but it's a good habit to get into.

Got any pics of your King?

Al

Nice one, looks like a cracking snake. Kings are really interesting snakes, loads of personality.
